It's official: Update 1.4.3.0 for Battlefield 6 has arrived, bringing Season 4 “Tidal Strike” right on schedule. EA rolled out the patch today, immediately followed by the season content – anyone logging in today will instantly notice a lot has changed.
When Does Update 1.4.3.0 Go Live in Battlefield 6?
The download for Update 1.4.3.0 has been available since 8:00 UTC (10 AM German time). However, if you've already updated your client, you'll still need to wait a bit: the actual Season 4 content for “Tidal Strike” will only unlock at 12:00 UTC (2 PM German time). EA deliberately separates the download and content activation to prevent server overload right at the reset.
Additionally, for fans of Battlefield REDSEC, there's the “Phantom Program,” a new limited-time feature within the Battle Royale spin-off.
What Does the Deep-Six Event Bring, and What Balance Changes Are There?
The “Deep Six Collection Event” kicks off concurrently with the season launch and runs until October 12th. Here's an overview of the most important content and changes:
- New melee knife and several new weapon packages as part of the Deep-Six Event
- Balance adjustments to transport helicopters, which EA stated were too dominant in open terrain recently
- Fine-tuning of the RCB90 and the Scout Helicopter
- Improved scope and reticle optics for better visibility when aiming
- Launch of a proximity chat test exclusively in Battlefield Labs
Why Is the Proximity Chat Test in Battlefield Labs Important?
Battlefield Labs is EA's testing environment for experiments that aren't intended to go straight into the live client unfiltered – previous season mechanics were first trialed here before they (sometimes in a toned-down form) made their way into the main game. A voice proximity chat would fundamentally change communication on the battlefield: suddenly, you wouldn't just hear your own team, but also nearby enemies – a feature that has led to many memorable (and chaotic) moments in rival games like Escape from Tarkov. The fact that EA is testing this in isolation first shows how cautiously they are proceeding now after the bumpy season launches of the past.
Our pre-release report on the Tidal Strike update had already categorized the Season 4 content before launch – now the patch is actually here, and the community can live-verify whether EA has implemented the announced changes as intended.
