Battlefield 6: Dead Space "Convergence" Event Kicks Off for Halloween

It's getting spooky in Battlefield 6: As of today, October 20th, the Halloween crossover with Dead Space is live. According to the developer's lore, a Marker has nested beneath Area 51, causing Pax Armata troops to experience hallucinations and worse. The team has released an event guide on Steam.

What is the Convergence Event in Battlefield 6?

At its core, the event is a 16-player PvE mode on the new Season 5 map, Area 51. Instead of fighting other players, you'll battle AI-controlled "Marked Soldiers" and attempt to destroy the Marker. The mode is explicitly non-canonical but draws inspiration from environments from the 2023 Dead Space Remake. Reports indicate the event is available in both normal Multiplayer and REDSEC.

What Rewards Are Available in the Dead Space Event?

Participation offers a decent haul of cosmetics:

  • the "Aegis VII" soldier skin
  • the "RIG-Certified" weapon pack for the SMG
  • two weapon stickers
  • soldier patches
  • a player card background
  • two in-game bundles

We haven't found information on how many objectives or kills are required for individual items in the available reports – that will be in the official in-game event information.

How Long Does the Event Run?

Sources are conflicted here: EA's update notes state November 10th as the end date, while other portals like KeenGamer report November 7th. We recommend not waiting until the last day and collecting your rewards early. Coinciding with this, Season 5 "Siege of Vegas" has been live since October 13th, featuring two new maps (Vegas Strip and Area 51), four weapons, and the faster REDSEC mode, Rapid Royale. The Casino Heist update follows on November 10th, and the "Frozen Aces" update, with a server browser and platoons, arrives on December 8th.

Why Is This Crossover Important for Battlefield 6?

From our perspective, this is a clever move: a cooperative PvE mode breaks up the usual shooter routine and brings back players who are hesitant about constant multiplayer. Especially since both Dead Space and Battlefield come from EA. Whether the mode will remain permanently after Halloween is unknown. How much the community cares about details was recently demonstrated by our report on the developers' reaction to the "Secuty" typo.
