Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition: Transparent Anniversary Console Now Available for Pre-Order

To mark the brand's 25th anniversary, Microsoft is launching a transparent special edition of the Xbox Series X as part of the Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection. Pre-orders for selected fans have been ongoing since August 26th, and starting August 27th at 7 AM PDT (4 PM CEST), all interested parties in participating markets can grab one – while supplies last.

What Does the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition Cost and What's Included?

The console itself is priced at $899.99 USD (UK: £759.99), and the accompanying Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition costs $79.99 USD separately. Both are entirely transparent, styled after the original Xbox from 2001 – including a green glowing X-logo as a homage to the boot screen of the very first console. Each console is also individually numbered and engraved. Also included in the package is a full download code for Halo: Campaign Evolved, the modernized remaster of the Halo campaign. Technically, the Limited Edition corresponds to the regular Xbox Series X with 1 TB of storage.

Why is Microsoft Celebrating 25 Years of Xbox Right Now?

The first Xbox launched in November 2001, competing against Sony's PlayStation 2 and Nintendo's GameCube at the time – with Halo: Combat Evolved as a launch title, which single-handedly propelled the console to success. This historical connection explains why Halo: Campaign Evolved is included with the anniversary bundle: it closes the loop between the very first and the current Xbox generation. From our perspective, this is one of the more coherent anniversary ideas in recent years, as it not only leverages design nostalgia but also meaningfully connects to the brand's history.

What Are the Chances of Actually Getting a Console?

Those looking to purchase one should act fast: Microsoft explicitly limits orders to one Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection per customer, and individually numbered collector's items are typically met with high demand and quick sell-outs. If you haven't received a pre-order ticket via email invitation, you can alternatively try your luck with participating retailers once general sales begin on August 27th.
