World of Warcraft: Forever – Blizzard Increases Beta Server Cap Again

The beta for World of Warcraft: Forever has been running since September 17, 2026 – and Blizzard is already struggling to keep up with the influx. The studio has once again raised the server cap for the beta, after having to adjust it multiple times before, as can be seen in Blizzard's official WoW news.

How many times has Blizzard increased the server cap already?

Blizzard isn't providing exact numbers, but this isn't the first adjustment by now. Executive Producer Holly Longdale put it bluntly on X: “So… we had to increase the WoW: Forever Beta population cap again. The wild ride continues.” Senior Game Designer Josh Greenfield was even more explicit, speaking of the “craziest numbers I’ve seen in 17 years at Blizzard.” Incidentally, the team also fixed a login bug that caused players to mistakenly re-enter the queue after a disconnect.

What does the overwhelming demand mean for the November release?

For you as players, this is good news for now: More capacity means shorter queues and more chances to get into the beta at all. At the same time, the repeated need for adjustments also shows that Blizzard has apparently underestimated the demand for Forever. According to current information, the game is set to be fully released on November 4, 2026 – if demand remains at this level, the launch itself is unlikely to be a walk in the park, but rather a real stress test for Blizzard's server infrastructure.

For context: Forever is not another addon, but a parallel, permanent version of the original Azeroth from 2004 – with new zones, quests, and class combinations, but still with a level cap of 60. Blizzard is thus deliberately positioning itself between modern WoW and WoW Classic. The fact that this niche project, of all things, is generating record beta numbers surprises even industry veterans like Greenfield. Anyone who follows the brand will also be aware of the recent controversy surrounding name bans, which shows how emotionally the community is now reacting to this project.

From our perspective, the cap increase is a good sign for the general interest in Forever, but also a warning to Blizzard to provide enough server capacity in time for the November release. Anyone currently in the beta should expect further adjustments in the coming days.
