Total War: WARHAMMER III: “Lords of the End Times” Launched – Four New Legendary Lords Arrive

Ten years after the first installment, the Total War: Warhammer series receives its biggest expansion to date: Creative Assembly and Games Workshop released “Lords of the End Times” for Total War: WARHAMMER III on September 24, 2026. The DLC introduces four new playable Legendary Lords and tells the final chapter of Warhammer Fantasy history – the titular “End Times,” where the world literally threatens to perish.

Which New Legendary Lords Does Lords of the End Times Introduce?

At the heart of the expansion are four paid Legendary Lords, each bringing their own mechanics, units, and campaign objectives. Additionally, another Lord will be added as a free update for all owners of Immortal Empires.

• Nagash – the Lord of Undeath returns as the leader of the completely new, standalone faction “Undead Legions” and aims for nothing less than his own deification.
• Thanquol – the megalomaniacal Skaven Grey Seer is at the center of an absurd plan that, according to the announcement trailer, even aims to blow up the moon.
• The Glottkin – the twin brothers blessed by Nurgle spread rotting gardens and plagues across the campaign map for the Warriors of Chaos.
• Boris Todbringer – the Graf of Middenland fights for the Empire and seeks to restore the Great Temple of Ulric, which brings strong bonuses for economy and military.
• Neferata (free update) – the Vampire Counts mistress will be added concurrently as Free-LC and is thus available to all players without additional cost.

What Else Changes in the Game with the DLC?

Besides the new Lords, “Lords of the End Times” introduces a so-called Devastation System: Particularly destructive factions like Chaos, Skaven, and Nagash's Undead Legions can use it to visually and mechanically devastate entire provinces on the campaign map, until regions look genuinely apocalyptic. The DLC can also be purchased as a standalone product – buyers gain direct access to the sandbox mode Immortal Empires, without necessarily owning the base game or earlier installments. For those who don't want the complete package, the four Lords can also be acquired individually per faction according to store information; the full bundle regularly costs around 30 Euros.

How Does the DLC Fit into the Total War: Warhammer Story?

The “End Times” are, in Warhammer Fantasy lore, the official end of the “Old World” – the chain of events that Games Workshop once used to completely overturn the tabletop setting and later transition it into “Age of Sigmar.” That Creative Assembly is now implementing this finale as the biggest DLC in Total War: Warhammer's ten-year history is thus also a kind of conclusion to the entire trilogy: Nagash, Thanquol, the Glottkin, and Boris Todbringer are among the central figures who usher in the demise of the Old World – a significantly larger narrative arc than most previous Lord Packs.

How Is the Community Reacting to the Launch?

On Steam, the scale of the expansion is generating predominantly positive, but not entirely undivided, reactions: Currently, “recent” reviews stand at around 85 percent positive. In the forums, there's particular praise for how much content is offered for a single DLC, while discussions still echo frustration over earlier development phases neglected from the community's perspective and Creative Assembly's moderation behavior in the Steam forums. Overall, however, approval significantly outweighs criticism, especially due to the free Neferata update, which somewhat softens the impact of the paid DLC.
