Total War: Warhammer 3 – “Lords of the End Times” is the Series' Biggest DLC Yet

Ten years after the first installment, Creative Assembly is really stepping up its game once more: The DLC “Lords of the End Times” for Total War: Warhammer 3 is launching on September 24, 2026, and according to the studio, it's the most extensive expansion pack the series has ever received in its ten-year history.

What Exactly Does the Lords of the End Times DLC Bring?

At its core, it introduces four new playable Legendary Lords for the Immortal Empires campaign, thematically aligned with the apocalyptic “End Times” finale of the classic Warhammer Fantasy universe:

  • Nagash – the most powerful necromancer in the Warhammer world, leader of an entirely new playable faction called Undead Legions
  • Boris Todbringer – new Legendary Lord for the Empire
  • The Glottkin – new Legendary Lord for the Warriors of Chaos
  • Thanquol – new Legendary Lord for the Skaven

In addition, numerous new units are coming, such as Khemric Titans, Verminlords, Putrid Blight Kings, and a Celestial Hurricanum, as well as new heroes and mechanics that tie into the End Times storyline. Especially convenient for newcomers: Anyone who buys “Lords of the End Times” automatically gains access to the massive Immortal Empires campaign, without needing to own the base game, Total War: Warhammer 3.

Why Is This Such a Big Moment for the Series Right Now?

The “End Times” were once a highly controversial chapter in the tabletop game: Games Workshop completely ended the classic Warhammer Fantasy world in 2015 to make way for the successor setting, Age of Sigmar – many fans perceived this as an abrupt and unsatisfying end to a world they had cherished for decades. The fact that Creative Assembly is now embracing and expanding upon this chapter in the video game instead of ignoring it has been very well received by the community so far, as numerous positive reactions in relevant forums demonstrate. From our perspective, this is a smart move: Instead of avoiding the controversy surrounding the End Times, Creative Assembly is turning it into one of the series' biggest content drops and giving fans the opportunity to experience this chapter firsthand in-game.
