The Witcher 3 Remastered Is the Highest-Rated Game of 2026 with 94 Points

The reviews are in, and they're historically good: According to Videogames Chronicle, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered stands at 94 points on Metacritic, making it the highest-rated game of 2026. CD Projekt Red has clearly hit a nerve with this extensive update.

How Well Is The Witcher 3 Remastered Rated on Metacritic?

With 94 points, the new edition leads the platform's annual charts. Directly behind it are the twin-stick shooter Sektori, which also has 94 points but is ranked slightly lower according to Metacritic's internal calculation, as well as the remake Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter and the co-op adventure Big Walk, both with 91 points. You can track the exact ranking directly on the game's Metacritic page.

Why Should This Score Be Taken With a Grain of Salt?

Important context: There are significantly fewer reviews so far compared to the original Witcher 3. The score can therefore still shift as more reviews come in – especially for the Switch 2 version, for which only a few impressions are currently available. Furthermore, the game is a new edition of one of the most popular RPGs of recent years. The bar was set high, but the foundation has also been proven for years. A strong score is therefore less surprising than for a completely new title, but it doesn't change the fact that the ratings are unanimously positive.

What Does This Mean for Players?

If you've been hesitant about buying, the reviews are a clear signal. We've already summarized all the important new features in our overview of the official improvement list, and you can find the price and PC specs in our overview of release time, price, and system requirements. Owners of the Switch version can get the update for free, according to Nintendo Life. From our perspective, the rating primarily shows one thing: A well-maintained remaster with substantial content is much better received by critics than a quick copy.
