Sega has revealed its plans for Year 2 of Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, featuring Godzilla, Hello Kitty, Final Fantasy 7, and Persona. Additionally, the price of the base game is being permanently reduced.
Similar to Year 1, the program consists of six paid crossover packs and regular free content every month. The second season officially launches on November 3. You can find more about the publisher on the official Sega website.
Which Crossover Packs Are Coming in Year 2?
- Godzilla (from November 3): a new track where Godzilla attacks the City Escape level from Sonic Adventure 2, plus three vehicles based on Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah
- Evangelion: previously confirmed
- Virtual Sanrio Puroland Pack: a track modeled after the theme park in Japan, featuring Hello Kitty and Kuromi as racers
- Segaland Pack: a track featuring classic Sega games and three vehicles inspired by the arcade machines Out Run, After Burner, and Super Megalo
- Midgar Pack (Working Title): content from the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series; details are still pending
- Reload Revival Royal Pack: content from the Persona games, also without details yet
What's Coming for Free?
At launch on November 3, Bayonetta arrives as a free character, unlockable in a new Rival Duel mode. Later in November, the McLaren Racing DLC will follow, featuring a McLaren F1 car and Sonic in a McLaren suit. In early 2027, Aigis from Persona 3 Reload will join, complete with her Palladion Dressy vehicle.
Is Now a Good Time to Jump In?
The price update is the most exciting part for newcomers: The Standard Edition will now drop from 70 to 40 US dollars, while the Digital Deluxe Edition, including all Year 1 content, will go from 90 to 60 US dollars. The Year 2 Season Pass costs 29.99 US dollars; buyers will receive controller decals for Genesis, Saturn, and Dreamcast, along with matching console-themed vehicles at launch. Owners of both Season Passes will also get Super Shadow and Super Dark Flare.
From our perspective, this is a clear signal: Sega is banking long-term on brand fans and crossover nostalgia – and lowering the barrier to entry before the second season begins. Mathematically, with the Deluxe Edition plus the Year 2 Pass, you'll land at around 90 US dollars for almost everything. Whether the packs, some with still-unclear content like Midgar and Persona, are worth the price will only become clear once details emerge.
