Fog, a first-person perspective, and a Scottish coastal town no one would willingly enter: Konami has revealed almost 20 minutes of new gameplay from Silent Hill: Townfall, making it clear what horror fans can expect this autumn.
What Does the New Silent Hill: Townfall Gameplay Show?
The approximately 19-minute video guides viewers through the town of St. Amelia, showing protagonist Simon Ordell from a first-person perspective as he explores foggy, deserted streets, abandoned interiors, and tense stealth sections. This confirms what was previously announced: Townfall is the first full-fledged Silent Hill installment to be told entirely from a first-person perspective – a clear break from the third-person camera style that has defined the series since its first entry.
When Does Silent Hill: Townfall Release and Who Is Developing It?
The release date is set: Silent Hill: Townfall will launch on September 24, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and the Epic Games Store. The game is being developed by Scottish studio Screen Burn Interactive (formerly known as No Code, known for Observation and Stories Untold, among others), with Konami and Annapurna Interactive sharing publishing duties. Further details can be found on Konami's official Silent Hill: Townfall page. For the first time, the plot sets the series in a cold, secluded Scottish coastal town in 1996, far from the American small town that gives the series its name.
For context: Following the acclaimed Silent Hill 2 remake and the standalone Silent Hill f, Konami has noticeably picked up pace in recent years, seemingly working towards an annual rhythm of new Silent Hill releases. The fact that a smaller studio like Screen Burn, with experience in narrative exploration horror, is being entrusted with this complete change in perspective is a bold move – and one that shows Konami is banking not only on nostalgia but also on fresh ideas for the brand. From our perspective, the first-person perspective in the shown material makes perfect sense: the threat feels more immediate, leaving less distance from the horror, which aligns with the series' psychological demands.
