Housemarque is delivering more for Saros. The Zenith update is available starting today, October 19th, for free to all Saros owners. It offers new content for veterans and assistance for newcomers.
According to the PlayStation Blog, the goals are more replay value for everyone who has already completed Carcosa, and increased accessibility without reducing projectile intensity. More information about the game can be found on the official Saros page.
What does the Zenith Update bring for Veterans?
- Eclipse Layers (New Game+): After completing the game, you unlock new nodes in the Armor Matrix and enter a more intense version with altered rules. Before starting, you select Carcosan Modifiers.
- 25 Trials: 10 new Trial Modifiers increase the difficulty, such as Hostile Regeneration. Larger enemies regenerate quickly here; only a melee hit will finish them off.
- Crown and Visions: In the Eclipse Layers, Arjun wears a crown that grows larger with more Trials completed. Additionally, there are 12 Visions, which are murals and messages.
- Overlord Rush: A Boss Rush mode with a leaderboard. The Incursion and Ascension sets each feature three Overlords (approximately 10 minutes), while Totality strings all eight together.
The leaderboard can be filtered by primary weapon. You'll need internet access and a PlayStation account for this.

What Accessibility Options are now available in Saros?
- Game Speed Customization: You can adjust how much the game slows down, either automatically during combat or manually via a toggle switch. Attacks remain unchanged.
- Auto-Fire: Your weapon fires automatically when you aim at an enemy. Reloading remains manual.
- Motion-Sensor Aiming: Aiming using motion sensors, in addition to existing button assignments.
- 10 new Protection Modifiers: For example, Corruption Melee Enhancement, which converts built-up Corruption into melee damage.

From our perspective, this is a clever approach. Housemarque isn't making the game easier by removing projectiles; instead, they're giving you more time and fewer button presses. The core challenge remains intact. At the same time, pros get new objectives with Trials and Overlord Rush. According to the developers, trophies for the new content are also included.
This update is a great reason to jump back into Saros, even if you set it aside previously due to its difficulty.
