Palworld Exits Early Access: Version 1.0 Has Arrived

Palworld has come of age: After a long Early Access period, developer Pocketpair released Version 1.0 on July 10th. The upgrade is free for all existing owners and is available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, as well as via Game Pass. Those who already have a save file don't need to worry – it will be preserved. However, Pocketpair recommends starting a new game for the full 1.0 experience.

And there's plenty to discover: The patch notes for the full version span a whopping 27 pages. Here's an overview of the most important new features:

  • Over 20 additional Pals are joining the game
  • A new main area centered around the „World Tree” with its own story focus
  • Reworked Tower Bosses for more variety and dynamism in combat
  • New building parts, including, for the first time, the ability to build directly in water

Meanwhile, the patent dispute between Nintendo and Pocketpair, which has been simmering for around two years, is approaching a rather disappointing end for Nintendo: an oral hearing is scheduled for October 1st, and a decision is expected by November 9th – observers anticipate a very small compensation sum for Nintendo at best. However, this is unlikely to bother Palworld fans much, as the game's continued development proceeds unaffected.

With version 1.0, Palworld officially leaves its Early Access status and competes as a full-fledged game against rivals in the survival genre. For anyone who has neglected the game until now, this is likely a good time to jump in.
