MSI 2026: Hanwha Life Esports Sweeps G2 3:0 into the Lower Bracket

Ouch, that's gotta sting. G2 Esports was hoping to finally make a big statement against their Korean rivals at MSI 2026 in Daejeon, but instead, they went down 0:3 against Hanwha Life Esports (HLE). Not a single game was truly close; HLE dominated the LEC Champions from the very first minute.

The scoreboards were particularly brutal: 27:19, 29:7, 33:7 – these aren't the kind of numbers a top team from Europe wants to take home. Mid-laner Zeka was simply unstoppable that day, grabbing five solo kills against G2's mid-laner. It's no surprise he was immediately crowned Match MVP.

For HLE, this sweep means a direct path to the Bracket Stage Upper Bracket Finals – from there, the Grand Finals are within reach. G2, on the other hand, has to take the detour through the Lower Bracket, where every loss immediately means elimination from the tournament. After their strong performance in the Group Stage, this is a major setback for fans in Europe who had hoped for a title in an international competition.

Whether G2 recovers from this remains to be seen in the next rounds. The Korean dominance in international LoL tournaments, at least, seems unbroken – and Zeka has once again shown with this performance why he is one of the most dangerous mid-laners in the world. Stay tuned; we'll keep you updated on the rest of the MSI 2026 tournament.
