Capcom has set the date: The free Prologue Demo for Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on October 19, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch 2. Capcom had already announced the demo last month.
As Nintendo Life reports, the download is completely free. Digital pre-orders will also be available starting on the same day.
What does the Prologue Demo on Switch 2 offer?
- Free download, no strings attached
- Save data transfer to the full version
- Local play with friends and family, provided everyone has a Switch 2
- Online multiplayer is not available in the demo, according to the fine print
When will Monster Hunter Wilds be released on Switch 2?
The full version arrives on December 4, 2026. This will be followed in 2027 by the new expansion, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance. Full cross-play support and a Game Key Card version have also been confirmed. Additionally, a Switch 2 bundle will be available in Japan.
Who should play the demo?
From our perspective, the demo is particularly exciting for anyone who has doubts about whether Monster Hunter Wilds will run smoothly on the Switch 2. Since save data carries over, time spent in the demo is not wasted effort. Those already familiar with the hunt from PC or other consoles might get less out of it but can still check the performance beforehand.
