Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls Sells Nearly 500,000 Units in First Week

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, the new 4v4 team-based fighting game from PlayStation Studios and Arc System Works, has had a successful launch: According to current industry figures, the game has sold around 485,000 units within its first week since its release on August 6, 2026. In this short period, the title has already generated approximately 33 million US dollars in revenue – a truly strong debut for an entirely new fighting game IP.

How Are Sales Distributed Between PS5 and Steam?

According to the figures, approximately 74 percent of the sold units are for the PlayStation 5 version, and about 26 percent are for the Steam version on PC. This indicates that Marvel Tōkon primarily finds its core audience on console, while the PC share is solid but not outstanding for a crossplay fighting game.

Why Is Marvel Tōkon Unavailable in Many Countries?

A significant drawback for worldwide distribution: The purchase of the game is currently blocked in 116 to 132 regions because a PlayStation Network account simply cannot be set up there. This means anyone living in an affected country cannot access the title, regardless of their interest – a problem that has frequently affected PS5-exclusive and PS Plus-bound games in the past and could have potentially led to even higher actual sales figures.

How Strong Is the Launch Compared to Other Fighting Games?

From our perspective, the figure of 485,000 units sold in week one for an entirely new IP is remarkable. Established series like Street Fighter or Tekken have built their fan base over decades, whereas Marvel Tōkon launches without any prior game history and still delivers solid numbers immediately. The Marvel name and the familiar Arc System Works aesthetic likely played a significant role here – however, whether this momentum continues will only be determined by sales figures in the coming months and the success of the first paid Character and Stage Pass.
