Marvel Tōkon: DLC Roadmap Reveals Jane Foster Thor, Venom, and Jubilee

Arc System Works is doubling down: At Evo France 2026, the studio expanded the roadmap for the first DLC year of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. With Thor (Jane Foster), Venom, and Jubilee confirmed as three new fighters, the game now has a clear outlook stretching into summer 2027.

Which Characters Are Coming Next to Marvel Tōkon?

Phoenix Cyclops remains the first in line, releasing on November 2, 2026. According to the announcement, here’s what's coming next:

  • Thor (Jane Foster): Releasing in “Winter 2027,” likely before March. A short clip shows her character model in Odin's Vault on Asgard and hints at a fight against Loki with Mjolnir. A proper gameplay trailer will follow later.
  • Venom: Spring 2027. The symbiote brings his own stage set on Klyntar, the home planet of the symbiotes.
  • Jubilee: Summer 2027.

All three are part of the Year 1 Character and Stage Pass, which costs $34.99 USD. Cyclops and Thor appear in somewhat lesser-known variants, whereas Venom and Jubilee seem to be their classic comic versions. The current roster includes Doctor Doom, Iron Man, Carnage, and Magneto, among others.

Why is This Roadmap So Important Right Now?

Marvel Tōkon launched in August to strong reviews – IGN gave it a 9 out of 10. However, the PC launch was rocky: technical issues and the mandatory PlayStation Network account requirement led to mixed user reviews on Steam. Although Arc System Works quickly pushed out a fix, Steam player counts barely exceed 1,000 concurrent players, according to SteamDB. Director Kazuto Sekine apologized for the PC launch, admitting that regaining trust would be “extremely challenging.”

This is precisely why the roadmap is more than just a content update: It demonstrates the studio's commitment to supporting the game until at least summer 2027. For tag-team fighters, community engagement heavily relies on regular new characters, and announcing this at a fighting game event like Evo France speaks directly to the core scene.

Is It Worth Jumping In Now for Fighting Game Fans?

From our perspective: If you like Marvel and Arc System Works' distinctive art style, you're getting a critically praised game with a clear future plan. However, on PC, the small player base remains a risk for matchmaking, unless you're playing on PS5. Until Cyclops' release on November 2, it's worth keeping an eye on player count developments.
