For all those who've had enough mockery from the hands of Batman: The next major story addition for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is set to make its grand appearance next week. A brand-new trailer for the Mayhem Collection DLC will be shown exclusively during IGN's Gamescom Studio program on Wednesday, August 26th. The DLC itself is still a few weeks away, but the first animated look at it will be here next week.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight from developer TT Games has been available since May 22, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2, sending you into an open Gotham City that is noticeably inspired by the Arkham games. The Mayhem Collection is the next major content update for the game.
When Does the Mayhem Collection DLC for LEGO Batman Release?
The Mayhem Collection releases on September 18, 2026, and is part of the Deluxe Edition of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. Important to note: You need the main game to play the DLC; it does not function as a standalone product. According to the information released so far, the expansion includes:
- A new story mission where Joker and Harley Quinn break out of Arkham Asylum and spread chaos throughout Gotham City
- Joker and Harley Quinn playable for the first time as characters with their own abilities, gadgets, and finishers
- The so-called Sinister Pack with seven new suits for the main characters
- Five new decorative items for the Batcave
- A new Batmobile for the open world
What Role Do Joker and Harley Quinn Play in the Mayhem Collection?
The two are apparently not just enemy cameos but are instead given a complete dedicated play perspective along with a new story mission. This is quite unusually generous for a LEGO DLC and indicates that Warner Bros. Games and TT Games are not just looking to sell a few new skins here, but rather a standalone mini-story segment.
For context: LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight was first announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 and was placed directly alongside heavyweights like a new Call of Duty in the show – so it's no wonder that the game sometimes still appears alongside Call of Duty in automated news analyses today, even though both series have nothing to do with each other in terms of content. The fact that the DLC trailer is now not running again in the big ONL show, but rather in the smaller IGN studio program, is a typical pattern: the really big reveals get the main show, while updates for already released games are often shown in secondary formats like this one.
Those who already own LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight can purchase the Deluxe Edition Upgrade separately via Steam once the Mayhem Collection is available. A price for the upgrade has not yet been officially announced, but it is expected to follow at the latest with the trailer on August 26th.
