GTA 6: Rockstar to Premiere 'Extended Look' Exclusively on Netflix

The next GTA 6 trailer is getting an unusual broadcast slot: instead of landing on YouTube first, “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look” will premiere exclusively on Netflix on August 27 at 3 PM ET (9 PM CEST). The release on the official Rockstar Newswire and the studio’s YouTube channel will follow six hours later, at 9 PM ET.

When and where will the new GTA 6 trailer air?

Netflix subscribers will therefore be the first to see the extended look at Leonida and the story featuring Lucia and Jason. This is a real premiere for Rockstar: the studio has never before shown a major trailer first outside of its own channels. Those without Netflix access simply have to wait until the evening, when the material will be freely available on YouTube and the official GTA 6 website.

What does the Netflix partnership mean for the release?

The move doesn't change the actual release date: GTA 6 is still set to launch on November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently weighed in on the Netflix event himself, calling it a mere 'appetizer' – further, larger trailers are expected before the release. He also confirmed that pre-orders have significantly shifted towards the most expensive variant, the roughly $100 Ultimate Edition – a clear signal of the community's immense willingness to buy, despite the record price.

From our perspective, the mere choice of Netflix as the primary broadcast platform shows how much Rockstar is now positioning GTA 6 as a pop culture event beyond the classic gaming bubble – comparable to major series or film premieres. For fans, this means: whoever wants to be the first to see the trailer needs an active Netflix subscription on August 27; everyone else won't miss any content but will have to wait a few hours longer. Simultaneously, unconfirmed rumors about a revamped melee combat system and deeper vehicle interaction are already circulating in relevant forums – officially, nothing has been confirmed so far, but according to rumors, the Extended Look could showcase precisely such systems in action for the first time.

Until then, one thing remains certain: the hype surrounding GTA 6 shows no signs of abating, and with every new sign of life, the November release date moves a step closer into the spotlight of the entire industry.
