GTA 6: Fans are simply 3D printing their own Macca the Gator from the $400 box

Rockstar has unveiled the Collector’s Box for GTA 6 – and the community immediately reacted. For a hefty $399.99, you get the “Goodtime State – Vice City Collection,” a merch package centered around the fictional Leonida TV show “Macca the Gator.” The actual game is NOT included; that costs extra. Within a single day, fans reverse-engineered the centerpiece of the box – a six-inch alligator figure – using a 3D printer and released the print file online for free.

According to the official announcement on the Rockstar Newswire, the box will be available in limited quantities and for pre-order starting November 19th. It’s clear that not every fan wants to shell out $400 for the entire package – especially when the actual game has to be purchased separately.

What’s inside the $400 GTA 6 Collector’s Box?

In total, the set includes eleven items, all themed around the in-game brand “Macca the Gator.” These include:

• The eponymous Macca the Gator figure with a hinged base serving as a hidden compartment
• Oakley Frogskins-style sunglasses with a Leonida design
• A shoulder bag with a “Leonida Keys” motif
• A New Era 9FORTY cap with collection branding
• Additional clothing and decorative items with a Vice City look

Especially the alligator figure with its secret stash compartment in the base is the real reason many fans are interested in the box – even without spending the full $400 on it.

How quickly did fans recreate the Macca the Gator figure?

No sooner was the box official than the first photos of 3D-printed replicas appeared on X. According to a 3D artist, they modeled the figure almost 1:1 within a single day, partly because it didn’t fit on their printer in the desired size and therefore had to be divided into the tail and base.

Shortly thereafter, a ready-to-print file landed on the Cults3D platform, where users can download it under a “pay what you want” model – meaning you only pay what you deem appropriate, instead of the full $400 for Rockstar’s box. Printing it in resin at around 16 centimeters tall is recommended to get as close to the original as possible.

Our take: The contrast to Rockstar’s usual stance on community content is interesting. When it comes to interfering with the actual game, such as with mods, the studio has recently been noticeably harsher. However, with pure merchandise fan creations like this 3D print, which affects neither game code nor content, there has been no public reaction from Rockstar so far – likely because no one is tinkering with the game itself, but merely recreating a collector’s item.

If you want to print one yourself: A resin-capable 3D printer is sufficient, the file is available for free or as a voluntary donation, and you don’t need a Rockstar account or a pre-order of the Collector’s Box for it.
