About five weeks before the release of GTA 6, things are getting loud again: Leaker CyberLeek is threatening to release a complete, playable build of the game online, according to reports from Eurogamer, PC Gamer, and IGN. The whole thing is tied to a condition – and that condition involves cryptocurrency.
What Exactly Has CyberLeek Announced?
According to Eurogamer and PC Gamer, the leaker's website states: If their proprietary cryptocurrency reaches a market value of 30 million US dollars, the build will be released – featuring a complete story mode, playable "to the credits." Those who doubt the completeness of the story mode can request scenes, which would then be provided.
Take-Two has only one way out, it continues: physical discs and a public apology. This is clearly an allusion to the debate surrounding disc versions. PC Gamer calculates that the currency would still need to gain a good 26 million dollars for this to happen.
Where Do the Previous GTA 6 Leaks Come From?
CyberLeek has been publishing material from GTA 6 since August. Most recently, a 25-minute video surfaced that, according to Eurogamer – who has seen it – appears authentic and features the CyberLeek emblem. Among other things, it shows nude scenes with Jason and Lucia. PC Gamer points out that the leaker apparently does have access to a playable build.
Rockstar has already commented on the leaks: they are "heartbreaking," and they had not envisioned fans seeing the game for the first time after all this time in this way. Take-Two is also searching for the person behind the leaks and, according to Eurogamer, has attempted to compel Discord via subpoena to release information.
What Does This Mean for Players Before Release?
Our assessment: The threat is primarily a marketing ploy for their own cryptocurrency. Whether CyberLeek can actually deliver or is just bluffing remains open – nothing has been officially confirmed. For you, this means: If you want to avoid spoilers, you should use social media, forums, and video platforms with caution in the coming weeks and, if necessary, mute keywords related to the game.
Even a build would not be the finished game. The release is set for November 19th on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with the PC version following in 2027. Rockstar is likely to continue trying to contain the leaks until then. We will keep you updated if there are new developments.
Do you believe CyberLeek will actually deliver, or is it just a bluff? Let us know in the comments!
