Delta Force Celebrates 2nd Anniversary: “Reorientation” Season Live, “Detonation” Mode Launches

Two years of Delta Force – developer Team Jade is celebrating this milestone starting September 26, 2026, with a massive update package. The “Reorientation” Season has already been live for a few weeks and brings a lot to the anniversary celebration. On top of that, starting September 27, the team is adding the new “Detonation” mode. Here’s a summary of what you need to know.

What’s in the Delta Force “Reorientation” Season?

The 2nd-Anniversary Season primarily focuses on easing the entry for new players and polishing existing systems. Here’s an overview of the most important new content:

• New Support Operator Rover with his AI-controlled dog Clover, who tracks enemies, heals allies, and disrupts combat
• Overhauled Extraction map Layali Grove 2.0 with three new zones and completely redesigned waterways
• New Warfare map “The Mog,” which reimagines the iconic Black Hawk Down setting
• New Operations mode Polaris Patrol centered around Operator Desmoulins and her controllable vehicle “Ruin,” equipped with a turret, grenade launcher, and thermal camera
• New weapons like the MDR assault rifle and the Thompson submachine gun
• Anniversary event from September 26 to October 25 with up to 3,900 free Limited-Time Delta Tickets available through login and match missions

What does the new “Detonation” mode bring starting September 27?

One day after the official anniversary, Delta Force is launching the beta mode “Detonation.” This is a classic 5v5 bomb mode: one team attacks and must plant the explosive at one of several bomb sites, while the other defends or defuses it in time. The basic framework strongly resembles Counter-Strike or Valorant, but it comes with Delta Force’s familiar gunplay, weapon customization, and operator abilities. If this reminds you of another tactical shooter with a similar focus: Counter-Strike 2 also recently received a new competitive mode with its Rush Hour update. Players who play “Detonation” starting September 27 and complete daily missions will earn additional Delta Tickets.

What does Game Director Shadow Guo say about the feedback from the past two years?

In an interview with Xbox Wire, Game Director Shadow Guo takes stock: “Two years went faster than we expected,” he says about the anniversary. The team carefully observed where new players get stuck during onboarding and what experienced players have to repeat in every match – such small friction points accumulate to cost a lot of playtime. His conclusion regarding the community: “Players have stayed with us, challenged us, and helped us see the game more clearly,” says Guo, who thanks all players on behalf of the entire team.

For context: Since its release in China in September 2024 and its global early access launch in December 2024, Delta Force has grown into one of the biggest free-to-play extraction shooters, actively competing in a market long dominated by Escape from Tarkov. Most recently, Arc Raiders’ Frozen Trail update introduced another competitor with fresh live-service content. Eleven seasons after launch, “Reorientation” shows that Team Jade is not only adding new maps and operators but also tweaking fundamental aspects like matchmaking and player onboarding.

You don't have to do much for the anniversary rewards: According to the official announcement, logging in and playing a round on September 26 will secure you the Day 1 Gift Box, including 1,000 guaranteed Delta Tickets. Starting September 27, daily missions related to “Detonation” will be added, through which the remaining 3,900 tickets can be collected until October 25. Delta Force is free-to-play across platforms, including on Steam.

From our perspective, Delta Force is doing all the right things for a live-service game in its third year: instead of just adding cosmetics, the team is tackling structural issues and simultaneously building a competitive mode with “Detonation” for new audiences. Whether this will be enough to continue growing in the fiercely competitive extraction and tactical shooter market remains to be seen.
