Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Arrives on Steam October 15 – And This Release Week is Packed

The whip cracks again: With Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, the vampire hunter series gets its first completely new PC game since Lords of Shadow 2 in 2014, arriving on Thursday, October 15, 2026. And this Steam week has much more to offer.

What is Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse About?

The story takes place in Paris in 1499, 23 years after the events of Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse. The city burns, monsters crawl from the shadows, and Trevor Belmont makes his way through the streets with his daughter Rose. Players control Rose: wielding the holy Vampire Killer whip and other weapons and abilities, she fights her way through catacombs, alleys, and Dracula’s castle. The game is a Metroidvania from Konami, developed in collaboration with Evil Empire and Motion Twin, the creators of Dead Cells. It will be released on Steam on October 15.

How Much Dead Cells is in Belmont’s Curse?

That's the big question. Whether the game is more run-based or gradually unlocks a cohesive castle piece by piece cannot be determined before the first reviews. From our perspective, the combination is still promising: aside from collections, a Netflix series, and guest appearances, Konami's saga has been quiet for a long time, and the Dead Cells creators have proven their mastery of fluid combat feeling and pacing. Those who have missed Castlevania for years should mark Thursday on their calendars.

What Other Games Are Coming to Steam This Week?

It's an unusually packed week. Here's an overview of the most important titles:

  • Planet Zoo 2: Frontier's zoo management simulation introduces fully aquatic species with freshwater and saltwater aquariums, flying birds in customizable aviaries, and dedicated wildlife reserves for releasing animals into the wild.
  • Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2: The retro boomer-shooter arrives on October 14 and features, among other things, a second playable character.
  • Valor Mortis: A first-person Soulslike from the Ghostrunner creators. You play as a soldier from Napoleon's army, returned from the dead, in an alternate 19th-century Europe.
  • Total War: Shogun 2 – Complete Edition: A re-release with all DLCs, 64-bit support, 4K scaling, and over 50 new playable factions. Owners of the original get 75 percent off until November 12, but old Workshop mods will no longer work due to the new Mod.io integration.
  • Moonfrost (Early Access): A cozy life simulation where you rebuild a destroyed village. Roughly half of the main story is included at launch.
  • No Such Place (Early Access): A top-down extraction game with a gunsmith system, playable solo or with up to four players. Three maps are available at launch.
  • Deep Dish Dungeon and Trash Day: A co-op dungeon game featuring campfire cooking and a raccoon adventure spanning six areas.

For genre fans, this means: if you like Metroidvania, zoo management, and retro shooters all at once, you'll have to choose from this week's backlog – or wait for reviews and sales after release.
