Black Ops 7 Season 5 Reloaded Is Here: Rex Infernus Concludes the Zombies Story

The day has come: Season 5 Reloaded is going live in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 – specifically at 9:00 AM PT, which is 6:00 PM CEST. This update is more than just a mid-season refresh, as the Zombies map Rex Infernus definitively concludes the story surrounding the Warden. Shortly before the launch of Modern Warfare 4 in October, Treyarch is drawing a line under this year's narrative.

What's New in the Rex Infernus Zombies Map?

Rex Infernus takes place in a reinterpretation of Dr. Monty's Estate – the house Zombies veterans will recognize from “Revelations” in Black Ops III. Your mission: cleanse the Shadowsmith's power locations, find the Warden's inner sanctum, and put an end to him. Here's an overview of the most important new features:

  • Widow’s Wine returns as a Perk-a-Cola, trapping enemies in a spider web explosion.
  • The new Ultra-GobbleGum Fully Packed massively buffs your weapon.
  • Two legacy weapons are available from the Mystery Box: the TR2 Marksman Rifle and the Olympia Shotgun.
  • A new Wonder Weapon is also on board.
  • The Main Quest is playable right at launch and rewards the “Bloodthorn” Wonder Weapon skin, a calling card, and 10,000 XP.

What's Changing in Multiplayer?

There's also new content outside of Zombies. The new multiplayer map Turbo Tilt features a pinball theme, sending you across an oversized pinball machine adorned with Nuketown motifs. Additionally, the obstacle course Freerun: Descent arrives for those who prefer to compete against the clock rather than other players. The endgame mode is free to play until the end of the season, so you can bring in friends even if they don't own Black Ops 7.

Why Is the Finale Coming Right Now?

The timing is anything but coincidental. Tomorrow already marks Call of Duty NEXT, where Modern Warfare 4 will be extensively showcased; the beta starts on August 28th, followed by the release on October 23rd. So, anyone who still wants to complete Black Ops 7's Zombies story should do so in the coming weeks – experience shows that Activision's and the community's attention quickly shifts with the new annual title. From our perspective, this is the real message behind this update: Treyarch is clearing the decks before the big successor takes over.
