Battlefield 6: Season 5 'Siege of Vegas' is Live – Vegas Strip, Area 51, and Rapid Royale

The wait is over: Today, October 13th, Battlefield 6 Game Update 2.1.1.0 launches, bringing Season 5 „Siege of Vegas“ to all platforms. The battle moves from the neon-lit Las Vegas Strip deep into the tunnels of Area 51. Those who read our report on the Season 5 roadmap know the key points – now they're a reality.

When Does Season 5 Start in Battlefield 6?

The download will be available on all platforms starting at 8:00 UTC (10:00 AM German time). EA and Battlefield Studios will unlock the Season 5 content at 12:00 UTC (2:00 PM German time). So, plan for a little buffer before you want to jump in. Besides the new content, the update also brings adjustments to vehicles, anti-air, Spectator Mode, Portal tools, as well as UI, audio, and stability improvements.

What New Content Does Season 5 Bring?

  • Vegas Strip: A map for infantry, ground vehicles, and helicopters, featuring casinos, hotel towers, fountains, rooftop ziplines, and narrow sewers.
  • Area 51: Large-scale battles with jets, helis, and tanks on the surface, along with underground tunnels, dirt bikes, and a control tower you can collapse.
  • Four new weapons: the Mk 24 assault rifle, the compact RSPR PDW, the 100-round Z84M belt-fed LMG, and the ELR-40 bolt-action sniper rifle.
  • Battle Pass: Over 100 tiers, four thematic paths, and six instant unlocks. Multiplayer leaderboards are also coming.
  • REDSEC: The new Rapid Royale mode, featuring fewer players, powerful loot from airdrops, and the fastest Ring of Fire. Additionally, Ranked Battle Royale officially launches outside of Battlefield Labs.

What's Changing for Helicopters and Anti-Air?

The developers have targeted the Scout Helicopter because its rockets were too effective against infantry. The splash damage of the 70mm FFAR light rockets is reduced by 30 percent, meaning they no longer allow one-shot kills at typical distances. Additionally, the reload cooldown of the rocket pod increases from 28 to 38 seconds. Mobile Anti-Air, on the other hand, receives higher projectile velocity and less spread, so that aircraft are better punished during aggressive flyovers. A planned change that would have made low-flying aircraft more vulnerable to MANPADS was postponed during Labs testing and will come later.

What's Next for the Dead Space Event and Free Weekend?

From October 20th to November 7th, the crossover event „Battlefield 6 x Dead Space: Convergence“ will be live. A Marker is discovered in Area 51, driving soldiers to madness. In the 16-player PvE mode „Marker Incursion“, you'll fight against hordes of marked soldiers, with the Pulse Rifle available as a Battle Pickup. Rewards include the „Aegis VII“ soldier skin and the „RIG-Certified“ SMG bundle. Additionally, Battlefield 6 will be free to play for a limited time on PlayStation and Steam from October 15th to 19th, including all maps and modes.

What Does This Mean for Us Players?

From our perspective, Season 5 is a crucial moment: the Vegas maps focus on large-scale vehicle battles, precisely what many in the community have been wanting for months. The helicopter adjustments are likely to spark discussions, as less splash damage will noticeably change ground combat. The free weekend is also a great opportunity to invite friends to try it out. The first few days will show how the balance feels in practice.
